The climograph below shows average monthly temperatures and rainfall in the city of Kolkata.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
You should write at least 150 words.
The bar chart illustrates the monthly precipitation rates whereas the line graph demonstrates the temperature variation in Kolkata over a year period.
Overall, the highest recorded temperature can be seen in the month of May while the lowest can be observed in January and December. On the other hand, most rainfall occurs in the rainy season (June to August) as opposed to the least in winter (November to February). However, there is a positive correlation between the warmer temperature and the increased rate of precipitation.
Given a close look at the bar chart of the provided climograph, the most significant rate of precipitation recorded is 340% in the month of July. The months of August, September, and June are next in line reported in descending order of 330%, 290%, and 255% respectively. Conversely, pouring is dramatically less than 50% or below at the beginning of the year (January to April) as well as the end (November to December).
With regard to the line graph of the climograph, the highest temperature of 32 degrees C is recorded in the month of May compared to the lowest of 20 degrees C in January. Commencing from March, the temperature starts to go up from 25 degrees C, reaches its peak in May, then fluctuates for a while, and further hits 25 degrees C in November.
