The flow chart summerizes the process of making ethanol fuel out of corn. The only raw material mentioned in the diagram is corn and water.
The entire procedure can be divided in to four phases: milling followed by fermentation, then, separation, and lastly purification.
In phase one, corn is stored and millled. In phase two, the milled corn is boiled in water for about four hours followed by fermentation of the cooked material for two days or 48 hours.
The phase three consists of the fermented corn being separated into two parts: liquid and solid by-products. The solid products are later discarded as they are not needed later on.
In the last phase, the liquid product is purified in presence of purifying ethanol for 5 hours. The purified liquid or the ethanol fuel is then stored and transported accordingly to use or sell.
