In Britain, when someone gets old they often go to live in a home with other old people where there are nurses to look after them. Sometimes the government has to pay for this care.
Who do you think should pay for this care, the government or the family?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Current prevailing practices in Britain dictates, old-age home becomes residence of many parents during later part of their life. These habitant have nurses to look after and take care of their daily needs. Though, occasionally, government takes care of these expenses, but my views contradicts to this general perception. Alike children, during their childhood, are moral responsibility of their parents, accordingly, parents, during their old age, are moral responsibility of their children.
Let us have a look in light of certain points. Firstly, if we take our thought process beyond this materialistic world, human being are to love and things are to use. Material things are to be used for getting satisfaction in life and, not the other way round. Secondly, it is responsibility of the family to take of their aged parents and bear the cost of their living, as it was born by parents to grow up their child. Thirdly, while benefits of parents earning was availed by children, than why should government bear the cost to take of them instead of family.
On contrary, however, a person, during his adult age, paid taxes on their earning so that government will take of them during their old age for his basic necessities. In such case, government should compensate them in the form of monthly pension to let them live an honorable living. And, old-age parent can live with the family at family cost. Such parents can teach their invaluable life experiences to their children or grandchildren.
To sum up, parents has spent their life for the children future at and huge monetary and non-monetary cost. Now the coin flips towards other side to pay back. Government should liable to make necessary facilities and amenities available to citizens, pay monthly pensions, making hospitals available for free medication.
