One of your penfriends wants to improve his/her English in advance of moving to Sydney.
Write a letter to your penfriend. Advice him/her about the following: Listening skills, speaking skills and vocabulary.
Dear John,
I got your letter and I am really happy to hear that you are planning to move to Sydney. I am glad that you choose to take my advice about how to improve your English efficiently since I am sort of an English teacher myself.
First of all, I’d like to advise you about improving your listening skills. For that, you can simply watch English movies that have a British accent used in them or just download free podcasts from the BBC. They are far more helpful in understanding the words and how native people use them while communicating than talking with local people.
The second important thing is nothing else but speaking. When you get used to listening to English words, start making sentences with them or you can just repeat verbally them after listening. With time you will learn to modify the original sentences and bend them to your will.
Now, you are not far For that, I’d recommend you to read books as much as possible for the start, choose poems then you can progress your reading to the literature of native philosophers; mark unknown words and google their meaning.
And that’s all! You are ready to go. My best wishes are with you.
Best luck
Richard
