You are going to another country to study. You would like to do a part-time job while you are studying, so you want to ask a friend who lives there for some help.
Write a letter to this friend.
In your letter,
give details of your study plans
explain why you want to get a part-time job
suggest how your friend could help you find a job
Dear Joseph,
Good news! I've finally received the invitation letter from National University of Singapore for their two years Master of Science program in Computer Science. I've accepted the offer and booked my tickets. I need your help to find a part-time job.
As you know already, I had applied for several universities because I didn't want to keep all of my eggs in the same basket. I've received admission offer from three universities. After a lot of brainstorming, I decided to go for National University of Singapore. That's because it has a huge reputation all over the world. It is a 2 years program which involves 10 modules and 1 major project. There will be classes in evening twice a week.
I want to do part-time job to cover my tuition fees, food and rental expenses. Singapore is such an expensive city and I don't want to be a burden on my parents by asking them to take care of these expenses. I would also have enough time on my hand outside the classes. Working on a part-time job will keep me occupied, and also give an opportunity to experience Singapore's culture more closely.
As you have spent six years in Singapore, you have made a lot of contacts. Can you please ask in friend circle if someone wants to teach programming to their kids? I already have some experience for that. Or can you give me contact details of some job consultancies which help students to find part-time jobs?
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. Take care and stay fine.
Best wishes,
Ashfaq
