You live in a flat and you have a tenancy agreement which states that you must give three months' notice when you wish to leave. You have paid a deposit of two months' rent. Now a member of your family has a problem and you need to give up your flat and return home as soon as possible.

Write a letter to your landlady. Explain your circumstances, tell her what you intend to do and ask her for special consideration.

You should write at least 150 words.

Dear Mrs Pattinson,

I am writing this letter to inform you that due to some family issues I will have to vacate the flat as early as possible.

As a tenant I have signed a tenancy agreement stating that I must give three months’ notice period before leaving the house. Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances I will have to leave for my home at the earliest. My grandfather is very ill and is hospitalised and doctors have put him on complete bedrest and medications. Since, there is no one to take care of him except of me I will have to immediately leave for my hometown. I have also resigned for my job and will look for an employment option in my city.

I would request you to please consider the seriousness of my situation and allow me to vacate your flat with one-month notice period. Although, I have two months’ rent in advance, I would be grateful if you could refund me one month’s rent which amount to Rs 10000.

I hope you will understand my situation and provide me with the required help.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours Sincerely,

Prabhpreet Kaur
