Most people prefer to make new friends, in order to find happiness and new experiences in a social environment. This depends on everyone. However, in my opinion, I disagree with this decision, because I prefer to maintain my old friends even though when they are part of a very small group, for the next reasons.
Firstly, I think that making many new friends as a needing, sometimes could bring us such advantages as disadvantages, those people do not know you very well, they do not care what your interests are or even your familiar situation, whatever. For example, imagine you are going to the college and you are a freshman; you do not know anyone on campus, for any reason, you need to share your time with others. Therefore, you can have a meeting with other students, introducing yourself, talking with them what you like, etc. However, you cannot say those people will be confident with you because it is too soon to trust in them. Even though it is very important to wait a little more time, until you could identify each person, and therefore, determinate who of them will be your real friend.
Secondly, maintaining your friendship with a small group for a long time could be better, because you can spend your time with them, share your opinions, what things you like, as a result of this, you are maybe creating a solid relationship with those who really care for you. Another example, imagine you have a familiar trouble and you have to share your situation with someone, consequently, there is no better way to have an old friend who really cares for you and therefore, talk about your experience with him or her.
Additionally, most people, not in my case, have the ability to make new friends, and they can be part of a solid friendship. However, according to the behavior of each person, and how this measures its plans with those friends, it could be produced a real happiness, a strong social environment and this is very valuable.
Finally, I can mention that I am a person very shy, what I mean is that I am not very sociable. In addition, I consider that maintaining my very small group of friends for a long time, could bring happiness to me. Moreover, this theory could have many variations, and this opinion depends on everyone, in order to understand what other people need in order to be happy. Think about it...
