The reading and the listening passages are both about the cant toad, which is deliberately introduced to Australia in 1935. The professor, however, cast doubt on this idea by saying that young cant toad and the eggs cannot be stopped from spreading because cant toad lay their eggs on river and streams, which will flaw by water.
In addition, the writer states that toads could be captured and destroyed by volunteers. It is mentioned that it is easily captured by hand. The lecturer, on the other hand, contends that the volunteer could destroy the native frogs. This is because when they young they look alike which the volunteer could not distinguish between cant trade and frogs.
Finally, the author of the reading claims that researchers can develop a vaccine that destroys only cant toad. It is mentioned that the virus will control the population and not harm others. The professor rebuts this point. She states that it is a bad idea because it will cause a disaster. Also, she says that it could be transferred to South America by researchers or pets, which will kill the native cant trade. If they destroyed them, the ecological system will be disturbed in South American.
All in all, the lecturer debunks all the writer points.
