At the end of the Triassic period 200 million years ago, there was a mass-extinction event that caused the extinction of more than half of all living species. It was this extinction event that allowed dinosaurs to become the dominant species for the next

The article explains a mass-extinction and provides three explanations for it. On the other hand, the professor states that although the author's explanations are plausible, they are not good explanations and refutes each of them.

To begin with, the article claims that the decline of sea level is one possible explanation. The professor, however, refutes this point by stating that it is not a good reason. At first, she admit that the declining of sea level is true. But she mentions that coastal and shallow species were able to adapt themself with environmental changes because the changes was gradually about several million years.

Moreover, the reading states that massive climate cooling is another theory. The professor, again, refutes this point by saying that rempreture decreasing still present in atmospher. She mentions that it is true that sulfur dioxide result in declining in tempreture. Yet this decreasing has continued for a short time. She mentions that sulfur dioxide combine in the air and result in raining. Therefore, she mentions that sulfur dioxide did not stay in the air and did not cause laking of sunlight.

Finally, the reading states that asteroid strike is the third theory. The professor contends this point by saying that astriod striking was occured before that time. She provides exact information about the time it was occured: about 12 million years before mass extinction.
