Integrated TOEFL writing The CHACO Canyon in New Mexico

The reading and the lecture both about using of Chaco Canyon in New Mexico where called the "great houses". The author of the reading argues that how people use theese buildings. Author talks about three debate thories which the lecturer contradicts theese theories.
To begin with , the author argues that Chaco structures were only residentral ,in which hosted many people. Also he or she suggest that idea with similarity of Chaco houses to aparment buildings at Taos where poeple have been living for many years. However , this specific argument challenged by the lecturer. She claims that buildings look like an apartment from outside ; however , it is enermous for family requirements from inside. Additionally , she says that there are extra stoves what it is serve for hundreds of poeple. This is because she thinks that buildings could not used primarily for residential.
Secondly , the writer suggest Chaco constractions were used like a store for food supplies. In the article , it is said that grain maize important crop for Chaco people , which it could be store in the warehouse. The lecturer , however , rebuts this by mentioning that theese storages were uncovered. Thats why warehouses could not used for storing foods.
Thirdly , the author contend that Chaco structures used as ceremonial hall. He or she assists that idea with broken pots which found in structure during the excavations.Moreover , it is stated in the article that theese broken pots show that people ate food and rejected the pots at the special ceremonies. Nevertheless , the lecturer contradicts this opinion and says that there are many construction tools and other materials. This argument displays that there could be alteration.
Finally , the author posits that Chaco structures were used like residental , store and ceremonial centers. In contrast , the lecturer contradics theese theories and gives examples why Chaco buildings could not be used for store , activity hall or residential.
