The core curriculum program requires students to

pursue studies in subjects other than those

required by their major. This can benefit the

student by letting him or her acquire knowledge

and develop skills that they can integrate in their

own major

A successful college program needs courses that

challenge the students intellectually and provide

relevancy for the students and their individual

pursuits. The students cannot feel that the

coursework is taking time away from what they

came to study as a major. They need to feel that

it is contributing to their development in

communicating, reasoning, and interpersonal

skills. The class size of these courses needs to be

comparable to the courses they attend for their

major. This particular concern is important

because the instructors need to be able to contribute

to the student's perspectives on the subject in

more depth.

The program should also provide alternatives for

the students to fulfill the credits for the core

curriculum by offering summer internships and

volunteer work outside of the students primary

major. This can only enhance the profile of the

university to the public and hopefully draw

students that are looking for innovation as well as

inspiration.
