TOEFL integrated writing Chevalier de Seingalt

The reading and the lecture are both about Chevalier’s memoir. The article mentions that memoir has some faults and exaggerations, the lecturer disputes the claims presented in the article. His position is that Chevalier's memoir is almost correct.

According to the reading, the memoir mentions that he was very wealthy. The article mentions that he borrowed some money from a Swiss merchant, but it does not make sense. The argument is challenged by the lecturer. He claimed that borrowing money did not mean he was not rich, or even poor. Additionally, he points out that he used all of money to do the grambling, so he borrowed some money when he was waiting for his money.

Secondly, the author suggests dialog with the Volatire is not accurately correct. The article notes that it is hard to remember all the conversation, because it was written a few years later. The lecturer, however, asserts that it is not a problem. He goes on to say that Chevalier wrote the conversation every night, so it is almost correct.

Finally, the author puts forth the idea that it is hard to escape from a famous prison. The author contends that it is just a part that makes the reader have fun. In contrast the lecturer’s stance is that it is not a fake, it is real. He says that there is some evidence, an old Venetian document.
