TOEFL T P O 2 Integrated Writing Task

The reading and the lecture are both about the advantages or disadvantages of making a team of people to achieve the objectives. The author of the reading belives that a group of people can have more success. The lecturer, nonetheless, thinks that working in groups could be counterproductive.

First af all, the author points that working in groups allows you to share more knowledge. As a result, you can work with more information. This point is challenged by the lecturer. He says that this may cause some members of the group not to work at all, since that information may be given by another partner. However, if the result is good at the end, the person who has not worked will also be rewarded and benefited form the recognition.

Secondly, the author contends that people in groups can work quickly. The article notes that working in groups allows tasks to be completed sooner. The lecturer rebuts this argument. He suggest that when people work in groups everything is slower. Normally you have to put more things in common. This means having more meetings and taking more time to make decisions.

Finalle, the article establishes that working in groups people are able to find creative solutions because they can help each other and mix their ideas. Besides, the group gives you the determination to not make risky decisions. The lecturer sugest that one person could be ignored by the other partners. The problem comes when the project fail. All of the components of the group will be guilty of not having reached the objectives in an proper way.
