TPO-01 - Integrated Writing Task In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay inorder to do so. A mandatory policy requiri

From the lecture, it is clarified that the four days work a week is not a persistent idea. There is a flood of reasons behind it.

First, hiring new employees for a company leads to spend more for their trainings, salaries and health benefits. Even the company space has to be spacious, so more space has to be made available for the increasing number of employees. Therefore, increase in the expenditure can result to the cutting off profits of the company.

Second, there are availability of many more jobs. The company might raise expectation for four days a week employees to work as much as five days a work employees. And when the expectation is unfulfilled, there is more possibility of joblessness.

Third, availability of more free time may increase the risk of decrease in quality of life because they have abundant spare time doing nothing worth than recreation. In the same way, there is the decline in the job stability as work is not done with full effort and concentration. Four days a week employees are more prone to lose their job when economy goes down. There will be no work security.

Hence, there are number of doubts cast in the lecture and they are appropriate to the working situation.
