TPO-11 - Integrated Writing Task A recent study reveals that people especially young people are reading far less literature, novels, plays, and poems, than they used to. This is troubling because the trend has unfortunate effects for the reading public, for

In contrast to the reading passage that emphasizes, reading less literature has adverse effects for the reading public, for our culture, and for the future of the literature, the lecturer focuses on the opposite view. The professor in the lecture conflicts with the author about these effects.
Firstly, the passage states that only reading literature can stimulate our imaginations and creative. However, the lecturer explains that today, other sources such as science and historical books have high quality and can stimulate people's creative more than literature.
Secondly, in the text it has been stated that reading less literature has lowered the level of our culture. Additionally, the author points out that people are now willing to sit in front of TV and watch different programs or go to the Internet and read a Web page instead of debating on a novel book. However, the lecturer rebuts this by saying that these days culture has changed and people have easy access to much valuable material like TV and music that enhance the level of culture in general.
Finally, in contrast to the reading passage's claim that says, although there are talented writers, they suffer from the absence of audience therefore, this matter can damage the future of the literature, the professor mentions that we cannot blame readers, actually it is the fault of writers because they write difficult to understand.
In overall, the professor effectively challenges the claim made in the reading passage.
