To begin with, the author of the reading pushes forth the idea that the Austin's has confirm that the portrait belongs to Jane Austin as they gave the copy right of the picture to be used in her letters. In the lecture the professor has completely different idea on this point made by the author of the reading. He asserts that Austin's family in 1882 about 17 years after the death of Jane Austin they haven't seen her. He raises doubt that they may not remember her accurately.
Furthermore, the reading contends that the depicted face of Jane Austin is entirely similar to the Cassandra's sketch which is known as Jane Austin portrait. On the other hand, the lecturer says that the Jane Austin had lots of family member which may looks like to her. He notes out that the portrait is in complete resemblance to her niece called marry and in this way he rejects the point made by the reading.
Last but not least, the writer of the article states that the proofs link the painting to the famous painter Ozias Humphrey who may have been hired by Austin's family to depict a portray of young Jane. This point is strongly rejected by the professor, he says that a part of painting which is used by the Humphrey in many years later when the Jane Austin novelist were not young at all.
