Tpo 40 task 1 writing:
The author of reading states that although it is possible for humans to living both on Mars and Moon, there is an inhospitable living condition on Venus for permanent human presence. The reading passage brings up three theories to support this idea, however, the lecture finds all theories unconvincing and provides some pieces of evidence to refute them. The information the professor provides contradict with the fact outlined in the reading passage.
First, the reading passage declares that the pressure at Venus’ surface differs from Earth. The pressure on Venus is greater than the Earth’s surface. Spacecraft and human people will be exposed by this hug pressure on Venus and would be crashed. In contrast, the professor argues that it is possible to maintain a permanent human presence on Venus by building a station that flowing above Venus’ surface. Since the pressure the above Venus surface is much lower and equal to Earth’s surface, this can be considered as a good solution for high pressure on Venus’ surface.
Second, the writer contends that since Venus’ surface and the planet’s atmosphere comprise carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and sulfuric acid, oxygen and water should regularly be supplied to Venus from Earth. The reading passage accentuates that this idea is impossible. On the other hand, the lecturer rejects this idea too and expresses that the oxygen and water which are required in the station on Venus can be simply obtained by a combination of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid in planet’s atmosphere.
Third, the reading passage proposes that sunlight is another problem for permanent human living on Venus. The clouds on Venus’ atmosphere are dense and include a dense layer of carbon dioxide so that blocks most sunlight and it is impossible to benefit from solar power. Conversely, the professor believes that clouds are not very thick and the mentioned station, that flowing above Venus’ surface, can benefit from the sunlight which is reflected in the upper layer.
