The reading and the lecture is both about whether pterosaurs were capable of powered flight. The author states that there are several arguments have been made against powered flight and gives three reason to support that. On the other hand, Professor claims that Pterosaurs may have been capable of powered flight.

First, the author states that according to modern reptiles are cold-blooded as well as ancient reptiles such as pterosaurs. The reading also claims that cold-blooded animals have a slow metabolism . However, Professor counters this statement by saying that discovered fossils indicate Pterosaurs have dense hair and familiar duel and this feature are typical for warm climates. Because of that professor states that pterosaur can't be cold-blooded.

Second, in the reading claims that powered flight can't keep all animals airbone due to limit for weight and considering that pterosaurs are so heavy, they can't even flap their wings. On the other hand, Professor counters that because of Pretasours anatomical feature, they are light for their size. Their bone is hallow and kept them low.

Third, the author states that powered flight make take off from the ground possible for all animals except large Pretasours. However,ın the lecture refutes that ıf pretasours were birds, it would be impossible to take off the from ground. The professor supports this statement by pointing birds use 2 hinds limbs and they push to take off by using those legs, on the other hand Pretasours had 4 limbs to push itself. According to studies even large pretasours can jump and push themselves without any trouble.
