The lecture refutes the points made on the reading by giving the following reasons:
First, the lecture says there is no connection between an intelligent brain and the fact that animals follow stars for migration. They give the examples of some birds and ducks, that actually follow stars. However, this is not a prove that they are intelligent creatures.

Second, the lecture explains that whales migrate in straight lines due to magnetic sensitive these animals have, therefore, they are following magnetic earth fields, instead of stars how the lecture says.

Third, the spy-hoping behavior is not enough to conclude that whales follow stars. Mainly for two reasons: Other animals like sharks, also have the same behavior when they are looking for animals to hunt. Second, whales float straight up during the day, not only at night looking for stars.
