The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls In the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995 & 2002.
The bar chart demonstrates the amounts of time during which people, in the UK, used telephone calls in different modes in eight consecutive years from 1995 to 2002.
It can be clearly seen that the usage of local-fixed lines had always been the most common method for calling. In 1995, people took advantage of local-fixed lines about 70 billion minutes, and with the passage of time, this figure rose steadily, and eventually in 1990, this amount hit a pick at 90 billion minutes and then shrunk moderately. By contrast, the usage of mobiles was the least fashionable mode. But it had been on the increase. In 1995, lower than 5 billion minutes of calls were relevant to cell phones, and in 2002, this figure reached to 45 million minutes. In addition, the usage of national and international-fixed lines had a upward trend, and its value changed from 35 billion minutes in 1995 to 60 billion minutes in 2002.
Overall, in this period of time, the most and least usual modes of calls were relevant to local calls and cell phones respectively.
