Dear Manager,
I am writing this letter to inform you about the delay in my joining. I got interviewed last month and received my offer letter on 27th of August with joining date 1st of September. I am about to join in as a senior consultant in your project and glad to fill this position with my experience. However, due to some unforeseen reason, I won't be able to report on the mentioned joining date.
I am currently working with ABC company and I am the senior-most person here. Because of some urgent delivery requirement from the client's end, my present manager has requested me to stay here a bit longer than the actual notice period which is of 90 days. Although I have resigned from my position way back, immediately after receiving an offer letter from your side. Still, I feel a sense of responsibility towards my current role and company. I hope you could consider my responsibility towards my present employer as well as the client. Therefore, will allow me to extend the notice period.
I would be very grateful if you could postpone my joining by 2 weeks that is, 16th of September. Furthermore, I would like to apologize here for the inconvenience it may cause. But I promise to show the same level of honesty and loyalty after joining your company.
