the consumption of spread from 1980 to 2011
the line graph reveals the number of multifacet spreads consumed from 1981 to 2007 counted in grams.
In general, while the number of margarine and butter consumption plunged, the proportion of low fat & reduced spreads showed an upward trend. Also, margarine consumption became the least consumed spread.
From 1981 to 1996, the number of margarine consumed was shown slight volatility before showing no changes at 100 grams, whilst the consumption of butter dropped noticeably to more than three-fifths after rising in a short period of time. A huge gap was shown for up to 80 grams.
In the next eleven years, the consumption of low fat & reduced spreads experienced a steep incline by 80 grams before dipping to slightly below it. Meanwhile, the consumption of butter and margarine kept on inclining to below 50 grams and 40 grams respectively, making the latter became the least consumed spread among the others.
