To some people studying the past is the best to help young people function well in the modern world. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures could be effective in helping young people to function well in the modern world?

People live in the present. They plan for and worry about the future. History, however, is the study of the past. Given all the demands that press in from living in the present and anticipating what is yet to come. Therefore, to some people studying the past has high value in this modern age of globalization. They think that young people function well by studying the past. If it is so, are there any other measures in helping young people to function well in the modern world?

In present times, it seems that examining the past could be unbelievably valuable in terms of understanding of our contemporary universe problems. There is a saying that suggests that "history repeats itself". For this reason if people delve into history, examine it without leaving any detail behind, they will have more opportunities to anticipate forthcoming problems and it is likely undeniable those problems would be solved very easily. Human conflicts, inventions and socials issues in all the ages are quite similar and this is what makes the study of past so important.

Through the study of history and learning about the past, people are better able to understand how the present has come to be. For instance, in order to understand how the United States became a country, as well as the foundations on which it was built, one must learn the history of America's founding fathers, and the world that shaped their ideas and beliefs. The study of history also enables people to learn from past mistakes. For example, analyzing the mistakes made by armies in World War II can help the military improve strategies in future wars.

Beside all the aforementioned, many people acknowledge the major role of Education in the modern life to all individuals in the society. It has enabled societies to prosper both socially and economically by enabling them to develop common culture and values. So, gaining education enhances an individual to live a respectful life in the society. Because education offers a setting in which culture and values of a society are developed. In this respect, education in modern society provides a forum where the society examines its issues and identifies solutions.

To sum up, based on reasons mentioned above, Learning and studying the past is the first step to build a better future. In addition, there are some other factors such as good Education that are needed by all people especially young people to build their nationality and motivate them to contribute to their country.
