Essay topics:

Some people think that education system should only focus on preparing students for employment, while others believe it has other important functions.

A good education has the power to change a life, however, how good education actually is. Many people consider that education system should training students for the workforce, while others think it has additional purposes. In my opinion, I agree with the second opinion for the following reasons.

First, education contribute to discover students’potential. Throughout the learning process, students are taught about academic knowledge in the field of maths, literature, biology or chemistry. There from, they gradually have an awareness of identifying their strength, weakness and passion. For example, when one student is not good at math, but in literature they achieve high score. So, they recognise that they own the ability of writing, start to develop their gifts and form to chase their dreams that require writing skill such as writer, journalist.

Second, schools should expand students’capacities by teaching them soft skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, problem solving or debating. These skills play a vital role in life of students. Specifically, debating skills help students convince people more easily and logically. Moreover, critical thinking class can train students’ analytical attitude and have multidimesional view on issues to address.

On the other hand, some opinions prove that education should focus on turning students into labor force because it is necessary to students in seeking for well paid jobs. However, the world is always changing , if schools just focus the needs of current economy and provide pratical degrees, students will be at a loss when what they study are out of trend.

To sum up, education system seem to have more functions because there are many things or knowledge that students should be learnt from. It will be disadvantage (thiệt thòi) if students are allowed to study in one field.
