The pie charts below show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The pie charts compare the proportion of electricity generation in terms of five types of fuel source in Australia and France in the year 1980 and 2000.

It is clear that coal was the major source of producing electricity in 1980 and 2000, nuclear powder increased sharply to a peak in 2000, becoming the most important energy source. The capacity of energy production in two countries both improved dramatically in the year 2000.

The total production of electricity in Australia saw an increase from 100 units to 170 units. The figure in France was 10 units lower than Australian's, while it doubled in 2000, up to 180 units. Half of the electricity was produced by coal in Australia in 1980, and the proportion increased to 130 units by 2000, contributing approximately three quarters of total amount. Coal and natural gas were share equally 50% of total amount in 1980, however, nuclear rose from 15 units to 126 units.

Hydro power became the second important source from 20 units to 36 units, and natural gas and oil were no longer being used much in Australia. Coal and oil were still being used at the same level, with 25 units in France in 2000.
