The first chart below shows the number of British visitors to the US and American visitors to the UK from 2011 to 2015 The second chart shows the amount spent by those visitors in that period

The first bar chart represents the number of UK tourists visiting the US alongside that of US tourists coming to the UK, whereas the second bar chart illustrates the spending behaviour of these groups between 2011 and 2015.

Overall, it is clear that the number of UK visitors to the US, and their total monetary contribution surpass those of their American counterparts coming to the UK.

Looking in the first bar chart, one can see that the number of British tourists to the US dipped to a low point of less than three million between 2011 and 2013, before rebounding to a peak of 3.5 million in 2015. The number of Americans visiting the UK remained relatively stable around the 2.8 million mark in 2011 and 2012, but it slipped to a low of 2.5 million in 2013. However, the number reached its highest point of about 3.2 million in 2015.

As for the second chart, evidently, the spending of UK tourists in the US grew gradually between 2011 and 2013, from 3.8 billion to 4 billion USD. Yet, in the second half of the 5-year period, the figures skyrocketed to slightly less than 6 billion dollars. For US tourists, their spending remained constant around the $2.9 billion mark in the first two years, before climbing and reaching a pinnacle of around $4 billion by 2015.
