The bar chart below shows the percentage of unemployed graduates, aged 20-24, in one European country over a two-year period.
The bar graphs elucidate the information about European citizens (20-24 of ages) who were out of jobs in the year of 2008 and 2009. The units were measured by percentages.
The high unemployment rates were recorded in October for consecutive years, 2008 and 2009. In October 2009 there was the highest unemployment rate for both genders as it consisted of around 22% for male and 15% for female. The next highest jobless rate was taken place in October 2008 as nearly 16% and 11% for men and women, respectively.
As it can be seen from the graph, there was higher unemployment rate in 2009 than those in 2008. In 2008 January, 10% men were unemployed and 7% for women, which figure increased to 12% and 10% respectively within a year. This trend was same for the next quarter of 2008, except for women where the figure remained unchanged whilst the unemployed men tripled to reach at about 13% by 2009. In July 2008, European citizens showed the similar percentages as those in April 2008. However, this figure significantly increased in a year to reach at around and over 10% for both genders.
It is apparent that, the unemployment rates increased in a year and most of men were unemployed throughout 2009.
