Target customers are the people who are likely to buy the products of a company and their characteristics influence the marketing strategies of the company, such as when and where the company should advertise the products. Two characteristics of the target customers are mentioned by the professor. One is age. For example, target customers of toy cars are kids and the cars should be advertised on TV when the kids are watching children TV shows. So the company will be sure that the TV ads reaches the right consumers. Geographic location where the customers live is another one. For instance, boat companies should advertise their boats in the cities and towns where there is lake or ocean near the city. People who own homes near lakes and oceans are more likely to buy the boats.
