The graph illustrates information about goods which were transported in million tonnes through various modes of transport from 1974 to 2002 in the UK. On the whole, it is immediately apparent that road was the most popular mode of transport and pipeline was the least popular of the four.

To begin with, in 1974 approximately 70 million tonnes of goods were transported by road. Apart from a slight drop in 1978, road experienced a steady increase to just over 80 million tonnes in 1992 and finishing the period at around 100 million tonnes in 2002.
