The map shows the development of Chorleywood, a village close to London, in the period 1868-1994.

In the first period, 1868-1883, the area was relatively undeveloped. There was only a small living area next to one of the main road. Chorleywood Park and Golf course is now located to the original living area. In second period, after railway built crossing from west to east in 1909, the settlement area increased significantly, in particular around the Chorleywood Station. And in third period, 1922 – 1970, the village became greater and concentrated in south direction alongside of railway.

In the last period, motorway built crossing from north to south in 1970 enforced the growth of living area in east of Chorleywood area. Until 1994, the settlement region grew around all intersections, in motorway – main road intersection and in motorway-railway intersection in east of the village.

Finally, the population of Chorleywood village increased dramatically as result from infrastructure developments, railway built in 1909 and motorway built in 1970. And it transformed completely into developed region in 1994.
