The bar chart below gives information about the percentage of the population living in urban areas in the whole world and in different parts of the world.
The column chart illustrates which amount of people live in cities all around the world and separately in different continents.
Overall, each column gives the percentage of three varaity if years, the middle of the last century, the beginning of that and with the prediction for 2030. It is clearly seen that in each region the number of people increased and will continue to increase in the nearest future.
To start with, we can compare two of the groups of Asian and African population, there it was the lowest percent in the 1950, then it were rising but it will not be equal with other parts of the world even in the future. To contrast of the first two groups there are other columns which represent the Europe, Latin American and North American population. These regions were not growing as those continents, however, it started with highest points around the half or more percent. By the predictions for 2030 population of these three continents which will live in urban areas will be close to 80-90 percent overall. In case of the whole world in the last century it was not even the third of the population, but we can see that in the future more than the half if the people will move to cities.
To sum up, population on the whole planet decades by decades prefer more to move to the urban areas all around the world, but in some parts the percent is growing faster than in others.
