The bar chart below shows the percentage of unemployed graduates, aged 20-24, in one European country over a two-year period.

This bar graph represents the unemployment rate of graduate male and female around 20 to 24 years of age in one European country between 2008 and 2009. Overall, it is apparent that the number of unemployed graduates has greatly increased in the given period, more specifically in the male category.

To begin with, 10% of men and about 7.5% of women were noted to be jobless in January 2008. There was a slight declined of percentage noticed in the month of April around 5.5% to 6.5% respectively. This level remained unchanged for few months and then dramatically rose in October approximately 10% for females and 15% for males were still not working.

However, January 2009 experienced a moderate decreased in the number of unemployed graduate women reaching below 10% and even continued to lower down in April having similar rate from the previous year.Same with women, unemployment percentage of men has declined in January less than 15% but unlike females, the pattern stayed constant in April for males. Interestingly, a significant rose of work-less women can be seen in July at 10% and continued in an upward trend reaching nearly 15% whilst, men dropped slightly about 12%. Nevertheless, the total number of out-of-work male graduate has doubled and ended the last quarter of the year peaking over 20%.
