The bar chart illustrates the comparison of the average number of students between primary school and lower secondary schools in six different countries with the world average in 2006.
Overall, there is a similar trend of data in three out of six nations with the figure for the world average. While the numbers of students at primary schools were significantly higher than those at lower secondary schools in the UK.
In primary school, the average number of pupils whose age between 5 and 8 was about 34 in South Korea, which was slightly higher than the world’s number and it is also the highest number among all the countries. The proportion of Japan and the UK was marginally higher than the world’s proportion at roughly 29 and 27 respectively. The figures for the rest three countries were considerably smaller between 20 and 23 while Mexico had the smallest class size, precisely 20.
In terms of lower secondary school, South Korea still had the biggest class size which was 36. The figures for students in Japan and Mexico were 34 and 30 in order. In Denmark and Iceland, the amount of 13 to 16 years old children composed around 20. There were only 18 pupils in that group of ages in Denmark.
