The bar chart provided depicts the average number of pupils per class in primary and lower secondary educational institutions in 6 different nations compared to the world average in 2006.
Overall, it is evident that the average size class in primary schools in the UK, Denmark and Iceland was higher than in lower secondary schools whereas the opposite was true of the remaining countries and the world average.
As can be seen from the bar chart given, South Korea had the largest average number of students per class in both primary and lower secondary educational institutions in 2006, which was about 34 and 36 students, respectively. There was not much difference between the figure for primary and lower secondary schools of Japan and the world average. The figure for lower secondary educational institutions in Mexico was almost 30 pupils per class, which was higher compared to that of primary schools.
As far as the bar chart is concerned, there was a big difference between the average number of students per class in primary and lower secondary schools in the UK, which the former was merely 27 pupils and the latter was approximately 18 pupils. The figure for primary and lower secondary educational institutions of Denmark and Iceland had not much difference, particularly that of Iceland, which both kinds of schools were almost the same (21 and 20 students per class).
