The chart and graph below give information about participants who have entered the Olympics since it began.

The bar chart and line graph illustrate proportions of people from both genders who participated in the Olympics over 90 years.
From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the number of female and male participants increased throughout the given period. However, what is significant the most is that more and more women had joined the Olympic games.
To begin with, in 1924, a minor proportion of women of well under 300 females participated in the Olympics, whereas the number of males was ten times higher, at 3000 players. A decade later, the figures for both genders rose considerably, standing at 4,500 men as opposed to only 500 women. Furthermore, in the year 1984, the chart noted a significant increase of about 1,200 more ladies taking part in the Olympics. The figure for males in that year rose to well over 5 thousand candidates. By the final year, there wasn’t a major increase in the amount of male players, but that of females soared up reaching almost 5,000 participants.
Generally, there was an obvious difference in the combined number of both genders between the initial and final year. Starting from 1924, the period commenced with around 3,500 candidates and continued in rocketing up till just over 10,000 female and male Olympic player.
