The diagram illustrates the purpose of weekly income of families in one country spent in 1968 and in 2018. Overall, the majority of the budget has been used for food and housing in both years.

Firstly there was a dramatic drop in the money spent on food, which decreased from 35% in 1968 to about 17% in 2018. Along with that, the percentage of income used for fuel and power and personal goods went down by about 50% each.

On the other hand, the families had a tendency to spend more on housing and leisure when the proportion of income for these purposes significantly increased by about 49% and 55% respectively.

Meanwhile, the amount of money spent on household goods remained in both years, about 8% of weekly income of families.
