Overall, males are more educated than females. In developed countries, the ratio of illiteracy is the lowest, However, the Latin American and Caribbean region had 10% of illiteracy among males and 1% more in females, while, In East Asia regions females are not as much educated and had 11% of the gap as compared to males.

Sub-Saharan Africa and the Arab States had similar illiteracy in terms of males which is 30%, Additionally, it is much higher in the females up to 49% and 51% respectively. Lastly, South Asia had the highest illiteracy in the female population of 54% and 32% in the male population.

Therefore, the developed countries had the most educated population in both genders. In contrast, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Arab States, and South Asia had a drastic gap to access education by males and females. The other two, Latin America and East Asia had average differences among males and females to get an education.
