The bar chart compares the amount of applicants, who come from China, Japan, USA and Russia, for one university of Europe from 2004 to 2008.
It is clear that Chinese is the primary source of international applicants between 2004 and 2006, but USA became the largest origin of overseas candidate from 2006 to 2008. USA saw the biggest rise over the five years.
In 2004, over 28 thousand Chinese candidates applied for European universities, which fell to 25 thousand in the year of 2005 and 2006. And the decrease continues in the following two years, reaching to 20 thousand in 2007, which is equal to the number of USA in the year of 2004. Over the five years, however, USA saw a stable rise in the applicant number, overtaking China from 2006, and closed to 30 thousand in 2008.
From 2004 to 2008, both Japan and Russia saw an increase of students applied for studying abroad with an exception in 2005 of Russia. The figures for Japan and Russia rose to approximately 10 thousand and 7 thousand from 7 thousand and 25 hundred, respectively.
