It then increased to around 30 percent in 1939, and maintained its level in 1953. After that, the amount increased until 2001, to nearly 70 percent. But then, it decreased slightly to about 65 percent in 2011.

In contrast, in 1918, the percentage of households that leased houses was the highest in the 93-year-period. But, in 1939, it decreased to nearly 70 percent. It retained its level in 1953, in nearly 70 percent. The amount then continued to decrease gradually until 2001, to around 30 percent. However, in 2011 the percentage of households renting houses increased to about 35 percent.

Overall, the percentage of families that owned houses decreased year-by-year, while the percentage of households that rented houses increased year-by-year. So, both graphs showing opposite trend in the 93 year periods.
