The chart below shows the percentage of volunteers by organizations in 2008 and 2014.
The pie charts illustrate the proportions of people volunteering in various kinds of organizations in 2008 and 2014.
Overall, the upward trend was represented by people working in education, health care, and unspecified fields, while the other 3 categories experienced the opposite trend. It is noticeable that in both years, healthcare remained the least attractive area for volunteers.
In 2008, nearly a quarter of the total volunteers worked for education, followed by the figure for environmental and art organizations, at 21% and 18% respectively. 18% of volunteers took part in sports and unspecified projects, which was more than double the percentage of health care.
In 2014, the number of volunteers working in environmental and sports fields saw a significant rise compared with the other fields, at 29% and 25% respectively. Meanwhile, the figures for art and other volunteers both fell by 6%. There was a slight fall in volunteers in educational organizations at 17% while growing by a humble 1% to 8%, volunteering in health care was the least preferred option.
