The chart shows the components of GDP from IT and service sectors in the UK from 1992 to 2000.
The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of GDP as contributed by the IT and service sectors in the UK, over a period of eight years from 1992 to 2000.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that over the period as a whole, the IT sector was by far the biggest contributor. Besides this, over time, both the sectors witnessed a noticeable increase.
To begin with, over 6% of GDP was recorded from the IT sector in 1992, while the service industry touched only four percent slab during the same year. With the passing time, followed by almost the same increasing rate, the former rose to 8%, up by nearly 2% than the latter. In the following two years, whilst the IT sector reached on par with its previous rate, by contrast, the service sector observed only a slight uptick( 6.2% up to 6.4%).
Further, in the year 1998, a sudden surge pushed the IT sector's share to 12%, whereas the other sector was just above half of that percentage, at 7.4%. Followed by a continuous rise, the IT sector sky-rocketed during 2000, reaching a peak of more than 14%. In contrast, the service sector accounted for only 8% by the period end.
