The pie charts illustrate the survey outcomes showing main reasons for teenagers in an African country using their phones from 2016 to 2019.

Overall, it is apparent that the major reason for African adolescents to use phones was generally social networking purposes whereas phone calls contributed to the smallest proportion in all the given years.

In 2016, the use of electronic devises for social networks comprised the half the respondents. Although this figure decreased by 2% in the following year, it immediately recovered, reaching 56% in 2019. Despite having a downward trend, the emails were the second in terms of the popularity among the teenagers. The percentage stood at quarter in the first year, which was then followed by steady fall, hitting the lowest point of 19% in the final year.

15% of respondents reported that they used phones for taking photos in 2016 and 2017, but this number witnessed a 2% growth every year. Ultimately, there was a 3% increase in the quantity of teenagers who used the phone for making phone calls from 10% to 13% from 2016 to 2017. However, this figure declined, and reached merely 5% in 2019.
