The bar chart highlights how students spent their money in 1996 and 1999.

Overall, what stands out from the graph is that entertainment represented the greatest part of expenditure in 1996 as well as in 1999. Additionally, children were the least important figure in 1996 and not part of an expenditure for students in 1999.

Looking at student expenditure in 1996, we observe a difference of 3 percentage points between entertainment and accommodation expenditure. Furthermore, food and household spendings were twice as many as course ones. Regarding other spendings such as non-essential consumer items and credit repayments constituted more than 15% of total expenditure.

Focusing on student expenditure in 1999, we witness that entertainment ones was significant as it reached 30% of total expenditure. Moreover, food and accommodation expenditure were almost similar with 18% and 20%, respectively. Regarding travels, it is clear that essential travel represented a greatest part of the expenditure than non-essential travel in 1999. Finally, course expenditure has known a fall between 1996 and 1999.
