The given charts illustrate the difference between ages of population over the period of 50 years from 2000 to 2050 in two countries namely Yemen and Italy.
Overall, the generation from 15 to 59 years old has accounted for the highest proportion. While the 60+ years group has experienced an enormous growth, the opposite trend can be seen when we look at those figure of 15-59 years group in both countries.
In 2000, the proportion of 0-14 years group halved total population of Yemen with 50.1%. However, this group is predicted to decrease sharply in the next 50 years, down to 37% while there will be a significant growth of the generation of 15 to 59 years old, from 46.3% to 57.3%.
It is clearly seen that in Italy, the percentage of 15-59 years group is projected have a dramatic drop in 50 years, from 61.1% , around three times as 60+ years group in 2000, to 46.2% in 2050. In contrary, the generation of over 60 years old will witness a considerable increase in its proportion with 42.3% in 2050, doubling that figure of itself in 2000.
