Overall, we can easily see that while in 1980, the great majority of Australian school leavers went to further education, the highest proportion of secondary graduates in both 1980 and 2000 was employed. In contrast, unemployment remained the least uncommon status of Australian students after leaving secondary school in the given period.
In terms of unemployment, there was a fluctuation between 1998 and 2000. The figure started at 10% and dropped slightly at the end of the period after increasing to 12% in the year 1990.
While the proportion of Australian secondary graduates going to further education decreased gradually from 50% to about 37%, the figure for employed students after graduating from secondary school going up dramatically, which went up for 15% through the shown period.
