The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant

The picture depicts the creation of electricity utilizing the advantages of hydropower.

The process involves several stages during day and night, beginning with the storage of water which undergoes various steps to produce electricity for consumption and finishing with the return of water into its first place.

First of all, water flowing from the rivers is stored in a high-level reservoir which is isolated by the dam. During the daytime, the dam’s doors are opened letting water go through a big chamber before entering the powerstation. At this place, the pressure from the water creates a motivation to make the reversible turbines spin. As soon as the turbines start to move, electricity production is the final step which is done by the generator. After that, energy will be transported through the power lines to the national grid allocating to different households and companies.

Once the electricity is created, the remaining water is kept in another reservoir which is located in a lower place. At night, the aforementioned turbines will operate its second function of pumping the water back into its starting place. The intake doors will be closed when the water is fully filled, which is also the last step of the whole process.
