The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now and plans for its development Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant

The pictures compare the differences between the existing setting of Islip town centre and its potential transformation in the future.

Overall, the most note-worthy changes of the town is its expansion to the northwest in tandem with the number of new facilities that will be opened. Those changes altogether would make an insignificant improvement in citizens’ lives.

Regarding the southern side of Islip, two accommodation areas, school and some shops on the south side are the ones that will remain unchanged in both their side and locations. However, while the current park will be smaller, a new housing area will be built. Moreover, the main road will change its usage into a pedestrian only path, with addition of the dual carriageway which goes around the town.

The most dramatic change happens in the northern part of the town where it used to be the countryside. The shops above the main road in the first map will be demolished in order to construct a wide range of other services, namely bus station, shopping centre and car park and new housing in sequential order from left to right.
