As is observed from the given illustration, there are four distinct stages in the life cycle of the silkworm; from eggs to a matured moth, and the process of silk cloth production involves six main steps; from selection of cocoon to silk material.

It can be clearly seen that, moth lays its eggs, at the first stage in the life cycle of silkworm. After ten days, silkworm larvae hatch from the eggs; these larvae feed on mulberry leaf. Then, four to six weeks later, silk thread is came on the larvae of silkworm.Subsequently, it takes three to eight days to produce cocoon. Finally, it became an adult moth after 16 days.

Secondly, in the process of silk production, first step involved the selection of cocoon, and then boiled into water.After boiling, 300-900 m long thread; made of cocoon has been unwounded, and then twisted with each other.After twisting, the thread can either be dyed after woven, or directly dyed after twisting.
