The pie charts illustrate different use of energy and the amount of greenhouse gas emitted by Australian household. At first glance, it is clear that the proportion of water heating is by far the highest in discharging gas while the figure for cooling is always lowest in both energy use and gas emissions.

The percentage of Australian household energy use by water heating is 30%, while the figure for refrigeration is considerably lower, at 7%. At the same time, 15% of total energy use in Australia is by other appliances, whereas energy used by lighting and cooling account for only 4% and 2% respectively. Meanwhile, the rate of heating’s energy use stood at 42%, which is the highest figure.

The proportion of greenhouse gas emission by water heating is the highest, at 32%. Gas emitted by refrigeration made up for 14% of the total amount of households’ greenhouse gas, while the figure for other appliances is significantly higher, at 28%. In the same time, only 8% and 3% of greenhouse gas in this country was produced by lighting and cooling. By contrast, 15% was emitted by heating.
