The graph illustrates the percentual contribution to the gross domestic product of the it and service industry in the years between 1992 and 2000. it is clear from it, that it has constantly generated a bigger share of the national income than the service industry and that it has had a larger increase during this period.

The service industry has seen a steady and uninterrupted growth of its contribution to the national gross domestic product. Duplicating its initial 4 per cent contribution in 1992, to a solid 8 per cent in the year 2000.

On the other hand, the it sector has seen a larger increase in its total contribution to the GDP than the service industry in the same period. However, there was a small fall between the years 1994 and 1996. After that, there was a sharp rise of its contribution of 4 percentage points in the next two years and an additional 4 points between 1998 and 2000.
